Published

on

Ahn Jae-hyun and Oh Yeon-seo have been confirmed on Monday to headline an upcoming romantic comedy called People With Flaws.

The said series will be broadcast on MBC from November as a Wednesday-Thursday drama. It tells the story of individuals who strive to overcome the prejudice against “people with flaws,” centering on a woman who dislikes handsome men, and a man who is obsessed with his looks.

Ahn Jae-hyun will play Lee Kang-woo, a man who becomes obsessed with his physical appearance after having been dumped before for being “ugly.” People With Flaws will become Ahn’s second drama in which he is the lead actor, following Blood in 2015. He most recently appeared in The Beauty Inside as a close friend of the female lead character played by Seo Hyun-jin.

Meanwhile, Oh Yeon-seo will portray the role of Joo Seo-yeon, a high school track coach who believes that a guy who is not good looking is a boyfriend material. Oh Yeon-seo was last seen playing the lead role in the fantasy romantic comedy A Korean Odyssey opposite Lee Seung-gi.

People With Flaws will be directed by Oh Jin-seok, the PD of My First First Love, My Sassy Girl, and Yong-pal. It will premiere in the latter half of the year, following the conclusion of the upcoming webtoon-based drama July Found By Chance in which SF9’s Rowoon and Kim Hye-yoon are in talks to star.

Lee Jin Hyuk Talks About Making His Acting Debut In “Find Me In Your Memory,” Names His Future Goals, And More

Published

on

Following the recent finale of “Find Me In Your Memory,” Lee Jin Hyuk participated in an interview with Xportsnews to talk about his acting experience, the difference between singing and acting, his goals, and more.

The UP10TION member made his acting debut in “Find Me In Your Memory” as rookie news anchor Jo Il Kwon. He shared, “I originally had a lot of interest in acting. From how to film, how to move, and how to act depending on the emotion and situation, I was able to learn a bit of everything about acting.”

Lee Jin Hyuk continued, “I met with real news anchors and got advice. Regarding my pronunciation and vocalization, I clarified with Jun Hyun Moo and announcer Park Yeon Kyung. There were scenes that came out better than I expected but there were also regretful scenes that didn’t come out as I practiced. However, I tried my best for every scene so I think I can say that I am satisfied with myself.”

He also spoke about his on-screen romance with Kim Seul Gi. Lee Jin Hyuk commented, “I paid a lot of attention to what I could do to appear romantic. I had a lot of concerns and difficulties because I’m not a romantic person but I think our pretty scenes were created because Kim Seul Gi guided me well.”

Lee Jin Hyuk first made his debut in 2015 as a member of UP10TION before appearing as a contestant on “Produce X 101.” When asked what differs between standing on stage as a singer and in front of a camera as an actor, he answered, “On stage, you have to show explosive energy. When acting, I think you have to show delicate energy, just like a drop of water creating a soft ripple.”

He added, “I worried a lot and felt pressured because of the concerns regarding idol actors. However, I didn’t want to give up before trying. In order to change the concerns regarding my acting attempt into a positive view, I worked really hard. I was really relieved hearing so many comments like ‘You’re better than I thought.’ When I first started, I worried that I would become a burden to the drama but I was really thankful that people viewed me kindly.”

Lee Jin Hyuk spoke about acting in the future, sharing, “I often thought about wanting to try a unique character, but these days I wonder, ‘How can I portray this?’ regardless of the character. If you seek me out, no matter the project I will try my best. My goal as an actor is to become a memorable actor to the public.”

When asked about his plans for the rest of the year, Lee Jin Hyuk replied, “As I’ve always dreamed, standing at end-of-year award shows.”

Regarding his long-term goal, Lee Jin Hyuk shared, “I want to consistently show the public a new side of myself. So that people who see me can say, ‘That was him? That’s crazy,’ I want to shed light on more diverse sides of myself.”

Lastly, he left a message for viewers of “Find Me In Your Memory.” He exclaimed, “Hello ‘Find Me In Your Memory’ viewers! This is Jo Il Kwon. I am so happy to have received so much of your love and attention. From now on, although Jo Il Kwon will only remain in your hearts, I sincerely thank you for treasuring and loving me until now. Thank you for watching ‘Find Me In Your Memory.’ I love you.”

Jo Sung Ha Shares Praise For “Memorist” Co-Stars Yoo Seung Ho And Lee Se Young

Published

on

Following the conclusion of “Memorist” on April 30, Jo Sung Ha spoke about the drama and his co-stars Yoo Seung Ho and Lee Se Young.

“Memorist” is based on a webtoon of the same name and is about a detective named Dong Baek (Yoo Seung Ho) who has supernatural powers. He teams up with elite criminal profiler Han Sun Mi (Lee Se Young) to track down a serial killer. Jo Sung Ha played Lee Shin Woong, a deputy chief with a dark secret in his past.

To portray Lee Shin Woong, Jo Sung Ha regularly had to maintain a very strict poker face. When asked which scene was most difficult and memorable to film for this reason, the actor picked the scene where Dong Baek accuses Lee Shin Woong of being The Eraser.

He explained, “I had to maintain my poker face so that all the moments leading up to this accusation could flow out. Through this development, I feel that viewers also thought Lee Shin Woong was The Eraser. Since this development transitioned well into the scene where I reveal, ‘Dong Baek, The Eraser is not me, it’s you,’ I think both the audience and I were able to immerse into this scene the most.”

He also spoke about his chemistry with co-stars Yoo Seung Ho and Lee Se Young. Jo Sung Ha shared, “Both Yoo Seung Ho and Lee Se Young are impressively prepared actors. I am thankful to these two actors for showing a never-ending stream of energy while filming.”

The actor continued, “Yoo Seung Ho is an innocent, humble, and cool man, as well as a good actor. Lee Se Young is an actress constantly overflowing with cheerfulness. She has a personality that always warms up the mood on set. It’s regretful that we couldn’t be in more scenes together. If the opportunity arises, I hope to meet them again. Please give lots of love to Yoo Seung Ho and Lee Se Young.”

Jo Sung Ha continued with his praise for Yoo Seung Ho when discussing his most memorable scene. He shared, “During the scene where Dong Baek is accused of being The Eraser, Yoo Seung Ho left a great impression. After scanning Lee Shin Woong’s past, Yoo Seung Ho was overwhelmed with emotion and had to portray bloodshot eyes that looked like they were about to pop out. While watching that on screen, I felt that he was an actor who worked hard for authenticity. Yoo Seung Ho left a deep impression on me filming that scene.”

Lastly, the actor shared, “I want to thank viewers for being with us from start to finish. Filming ‘Memorist’ was always fun and happy. I hope ‘Memorist’ will last as a good memory in everyone for a long time, and I will work hard to meet you again with a good project. Thank you.”

“The World Of The Married” Ratings Hit New All-Time High As “The King: Eternal Monarch” Dips Slightly

Published

on

JTBC’s “The World of the Married” has soared to new heights!

On April 24, the hit drama achieved its highest viewership ratings to date. According to Nielsen Korea, the latest episode of “The World of the Married” scored an average nationwide rating of 20.5 percent, marking a new personal record for the drama.

The only JTBC drama in history to score higher ratings is “SKY Castle,” the smash success that currently holds the record for the highest viewership ratings ever achieved on any Korean cable network—not just JTBC. “SKY Castle” scored a nationwide average of 23.78 percent during its finale in 2019, and industry watchers are curious to see whether “The World of the Married” will be able to beat that record by the end of its run.

Meanwhile, SBS’s new drama “The King: Eternal Monarch” saw a slight decrease in viewership for its third episode. The April 24 broadcast scored average nationwide ratings of 7.8 percent and 9.0 percent for its two parts.

“The World Of The Married” Actors Kim Hee Ae And Park Hae Joon Talk About Drama’s Popularity + Viewers’ Reactions

Published

on

Kim Hee Ae and Park Hae Joon shared their thoughts on their drama “The World of the Married.”

On April 24, the actors attended a press conference that was streamed online and hosted by comedienne Kim Ji Sun.

Park Hae Joon began the press event by apologizing to viewers. His character Lee Tae Oh has been subject to the wrath of viewers for various villainous acts including adultery.

He stated, “I’m sorry for causing concern. The drama is still on air, and I’m also curious about what will happen towards the end. I’m still in disbelief about the popularity of the drama. Many people are enjoying it, and I’ve been getting lots of congratulatory phone calls. But I’m not sure what they’re congratulating me on. I’m getting a lot of criticism.”

“I’m sorry to say this, but I didn’t read the comments after the first episode aired,” he said. “I thought that the comments might shake me up and decided that it would be better not to read them after episodes one and two were aired. I thought that it would be better to think more about scenes I need to film in the future and to stay away from comments. There are times when I can’t help but read them or people send them to me, but I quickly forget about it by closing my ears and doing 50 squats.”

Park Hae Joon added, “Many people show interest when I’m in public, but I also think, ‘What are those people thinking when they look happy to see me?’ Their interest also feels somewhat burdensome.”

Kim Hee Ae addressed a controversial scene in last week’s episode where her character was assaulted in her home. When asked if she suffered from any difficulties or injuries after filming the scene herself without a stuntwoman, she replied, “I saw the articles, but everyone helped me and there were people who planned [the action scene].”

She continued, “I want to tell you that we filmed really safely. I was a bit scared, but one can feel many emotions. I felt really excited, and it was fun as well. I think the action scene was really helpful in driving those kinds of emotions.”

“The atmosphere on set is perfect,” she said. “It’s my first time filming a drama in a while, so I thought all of them were like this, but I heard that our set is the best. There are many dislikable characters in our drama such as Park Hae Joon and Han So Hee, but they give it their all. It’s admirable seeing them acting while completely immersed in their roles.”

“The World of the Married” airs on Fridays and Saturdays at 10:50 p.m. KST.
